Event technology has developed tremendously over the years opening gates to a lot of engaging event experiences.
One of the most effective concepts that help in creating engaging event experiences is event gamification. Event technology has enabled event planners to now facilitate extensive gamification strategies to engage attendees.
Hubilo has recently jumped on the gamification wagon by its all-new addition to the all-in-one event technology solution; the contest module. Hubilo provides a range of event engagement tools as part of its tech suite for events including event networking and the leaderboard feature.
The revamped contest module is a more extensive gamification driven solution that helps planners enable multiple types of contests at their events to help their attendees interact with their event.
It is extremely easy to set up and offers a wide range of contest types to choose from, making it convenient for event professionals.
Here are the three main types of basic contest templates that planners can choose from:
1. Entry Contest
These are basic concepts of contests where the attendees have to sign up for a certain competition and participate based on the rules. These are contests such as a selfie contest or a photo/video contest. Attendees need to sign up for the same and enter a selfie or photo as per the rules to participate.
2. Best Response Contest
This contest is very simple and needs no pre-registration from the attendees. This module is best when the reward system for your gamification activity is based on attendee engagement. For e.g. you would like to run a photo contest where the most liked photo wins. Best response contest module is perfect for such activities.
3. Quiz Contest
This is one of the most common and most well-known modules for event contests; the quiz. Planners can actively engage attendees in quizzes or trivia with this type of contest module. They can add as many questions as they want and set up the rules as required. Attendees can participate and get a spot on the leader board accordingly.
Setting up your Event Contests
Setting up these contest modules is really easy. Planners can see a separate section labelled ‘contests’ under the event engagement section of the Hubilo dashboard. These contests are directly reflected on your mobile event app and can help you easily enable attendee engagement activities through the same.
Setting up your own contest module is a simple, three-step process as mentioned below:
1. Add contest
Once you have your event gamification strategy in place, you can add multiple contests to your app directly from the dashboard. Simply click on the ‘Add contest’ button on your right panel which will then open a range of options based on contest types that you can choose from. You can choose from entry contest, best response contest or quiz as per your event gamification strategy.
2. Set up contest
Once you’ve selected the type of contests that you want, the next step is to configure the settings and rules for your contest. You can add details regarding your contest, including the name, the time period for which you want to run the contest and the basic rules that you have for the contest. You can also add custom documents, set up the point distribution system and attach photos, videos etc. to your contest feature.
3. Monitor
Once your contest is up and running, you can monitor your contest in real-time. You can check the basic analytics directly from your contest listing. You can check out all the entries that you have received so far and even moderate the same.
For the quiz module, you can add as many questions as you require and set up a point system for the same. You can even create a leader board listing the attendees who’ve scored the most in the contest module.
The contest is closed as per the dates that you have set up. You can add multiple contests to your dashboard and monitor them simultaneously. These contest that you create can be divided into three categories on your dashboard i.e. on-going, upcoming and ended.
Benefits of the Contest Module
Gamifying your event with such contest modules has a lot of benefits in terms of shaping the entire event experience for the attendees. Here are just a few common benefits of Hubilo’s contest module:
1. Maximize attendee engagement
One of the most obvious and effective outcomes of enabling such a feature in your event is attendee engagement. Attaching a reward system to simple activities such as asking a question on the feed or visiting an exhibition stall is enough to encourage attendee participation.
Adding such contest modules makes it even more interesting and fun, thus leading to higher attendee participation and in turn, engagement.
2. User-generated content
Organizing contests such as photos or selfie contests encourage attendees to document your event, post it online and even engage with the same. This also gives you a lot of user-generated content through the contest that can then be leveraged for post-event marketing purposes.
Apart from this, you can also use contest modules such as a quiz to spread brand awareness by setting up a quiz based on your own brand or sponsors.
3. Ease of use
Having a contest module such as Hubilo’s in place makes it really simple for planners to gamify their event. The module is extremely easy to set up and monitor with comprehensive analytics to boot.
This helps in optimizing the attendee experience with just a few extra steps and a very minor part of your event budget, the ROI trumping the cost.
Thus Hubilo’s contest module has a range of benefits.
